Doc's Irish Stout

One of my favorite stock beers - I always keep a keg of this on hand because I really enjoy stout. Rich flavored dry Irish Stout that is very simple to make. Perfect every time!

  • 2.25 oz Goldings, East Kent [5.00%] (60 min) Hops 44.2 IBU
  • 0.25 tsp Irish Moss (Boil 10.0 min) Misc
  • 10.00 gm Gypsum (Calcium Sulfate) (Mash 60.0 min) Misc
  • 5.00 gal Dublin, Ireland Water
  • 1 Pkgs Irish Ale (Wyeast Labs #1084) Yeast-Ale

Mash Schedule

Single Infusion, Medium Body, Total Grain Weight: 8.00 lb

  • Mash In Add 10.00 qt of water at 165.9 F 154.0 F 60 min
  • Mash Out Add 6.40 qt of water at 193.1 F 168.0 F 10 min

Notes

A very simple all grain beer that produces a great Guiness-style dry Irish taste every time. I have even made black and tans with it using a full body pale ale in the bottom of the glass. Use a single step infusion - a very easy beer to brew and great tasting if you like stouts.
